is this a cannon character?: No
character name: James Zect
character alias: (only if you have one) Reaper
gender: Male
side: X-Men
actual age: 18
age you look: 18
mutant power: (not applicable if human) His ability revolves around being able to create shapes and forms from an energy that comes from within his body. The more complicated the shape he creates, the more concentration it requires, the object requiring the least amount of concentration being a simple sphere. If, however, his concentration drops enough, the shape can begin to fire bursts of energy in random directions, striking anything nearby, including James, or the energy could explode altogether, sending the energy flying in all directions at once, this usually happens if he cannot regain control of the energy quick enough after losing concentration. The color of the energy changes depending on his mood; angry, sad, jealous, or depressed it's black, and afraid, happy, surprised, or agitated it's white.
appearance: (A picture and/or a description) Likes to wear cargo pants, and decal t-shirts, his favorite being those that have snakes, white tigers, and/or sharks, but they don't have to be animals. He has black hair, and his eyes change color between blue and green, although they're green most of the time. He always goes out with a black cloak and skull mask, in case Reaper is required.
personality: Please spend a little time on this James is quiet and rarely talks, but will open up to people he feels he can trust. He holds his emotions inside most of the time, out of fear of his powers harming those around him. He tends to be sarcastic and makes jokes at times, but he's a very caring person, and will never call someone else (unless they really deserve it) something he considers a 'derogatory term'. He tends to beat up on himself, and would do anything in his power to help someone in need.
history: Be Detailed! James Zect was the result of a one night stand between his mother, Isabella Zect, and an unknown man. His mother worked in a drug store in San Diego, California as the assistant manager. His mother couldn't give him everything, but she gave him everything she could, and kept him happy. When he was three, his mother got an abusive boyfriend who would repeatedly beat both his mother and him.
On his seventh birthday, the man showed up drunk to his party, which was just him and his mother because James didn't make friends easily, and he commonly avoided people because of his mother's boyfriend. He viciously attacked James, hitting him over and over again. After ten minutes of the assault, James was out of tears, and he screamed out for the man to stop.
A white shield of energy burst around him, and sent the man flying through the wall of the apartment building. His mother, out of fear and caring for her son, packed everything she could, and the two fled the city. They made their way, using any way they could, to Albany, New York. His mother got a new job as a nurse in a hospital, and James entered public school.
over the next Several years his powers developed more, and he learned to keep his emotions in somewhat control to prevent himself from hurting anyone. Then, when he was 14, his powers were unleashed again. His mother's boyfriend had followed them all the way across the country, this time bringing a group of anti-mutant activists. They attacked him and his mother as they walked home from the hospital she was working in. Again, they beat him, only this time it didn't take ten minutes for his abilities to activate.
The energy was black this time, but rather than a sphere of energy surrounding his body, they formed a sharp blade as he punched back at the attackers. He put three of the four men in the hospital, and they fled again. This time to New York City. Shortly after their arrival, they were approached by members of the Xavier Institute, and they asked him to enter the school. While James wasn't keen to leave his mother alone, in case her boyfriend or the anti-mutant activists came back, but she eventually talked him into going.
After his first year at the school, he found it easier to make friends than at his regular school, although he still avoided large crowds of people if he could manage it. During his second year he learned to control the energy better, and learned to make different shapes out of it, his favorite being that of a scythe, but it took no less time or concentration to form any other shape. Also during this year he found a place in the graveyard where all the graves were over a hundred years old, and rarely frequented by visitors. He found it a perfect place to study and practice his powers with few, if any, interruptions. Throughout his last two years in school, he could often be found there, his skull mask dawned, and a hoody over his head.
On his 18th birthday, James spent the day with a friend, even managing to create his first and only permanent object as a result. However, the friend left and he has yet to see her again.
The next morning, he received a phone call, and was informed that his mother had been shot and killed not far from her apartment. In a rage, he quickly went to New York, and hunted down her ex-boyfriend. He found him, and the man, believing James no threat, told him what he'd done. James, using a stick he'd carved using his abilities, created a scythe and prepared to decapitate the man. An X-Man who had followed him, managed to stop him in time, and convinced him to just let the police handle the man.
A few weeks later, James was made a member of the X-Men.

James was sitting in the lobby of the hospital, the last of his homework sitting in his bag next to him. His mother was off work in a few minutes, then they'd walk back to the apartment together, and have a dinner together. One of his teacher's had gone on an anti-mutant rant during class because a student had graffiti-ed his house, from above it. James had remained quiet in his seat throughout the rant, trying to keep his emotions down, so that his powers would not inadvertently be activated. "Ready to go James?" his mother asked. He jumped slightly because he hadn't heard her approach.
"Yeah, I'm hungry!" James said, jumping to his feet.
"Did you get your lunch taken again?"
"Yeah, I'm to afraid to fight back, what if I hurt someone...." The two started walking home, his mother not arguing his point. She was glad that he didn't fight back in school, she'd seen what some of the people with powers did on television. While she'd heard of the 'X-Men' and was an avid supporters of those with powers using them for constructive purposes. She didn't like the term 'mutant', but James used it a lot when he talked about himself, but she'd never heard him talk about anyone else using the word.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the chick I used to bang, and her little freak of a brat." James and his mother froze at the sound of the voice. They both turned around slowly, and his mother's ex-boyfriend and three men wearing shirts with the word 'mutant' with a line through it were standing there.
"Which one's the mutie?" one of the men asked.
"The kid. You guys can take him, I'll take care of my 'sweetie pie'," the boyfriend growled.
"NO! LEAVE MY MOTHER ALONE!" James shouted. Fury shaking through his body, he moved to strike the man. He remembered all the times he'd beaten his mother, and it filled him with an even greater fury. A black field of energy appeared around his arm as he punched one of the activists, the black energy piercing the man's side, causing him to double over in pain.
"What the hell!?" the remaining three exclaimed. James, his rage clouding all thought, struck one of the other men in the mutant t-shirt. This time, he pierced straight through the man's leg, and into the third one's stomach. His hands still shaking in rage, he turned to the final man.
"You... You little freak! I'll... This isn't the end of this!" the man said, running down the street. His rage subsiding, James looked around and his look of anger, was replaced by one of fear.
"I... I didn't mean to..." James said, tears streaming down his face.
"I know you didn't James, come on, we'll pack up and leave again. We'll go to New York City, It's so big, he'll never find us there," his mother said, hugging him close. "Now come on, we've got to get home and pack." The two ran down the street toward the apartment.
